Kim's Lesson
Reflections
Meredith Stern shows not only images of caring, she reveals the actions and thoughts that are unseen, yet familiar. I chose to depict the dog of my friend's sister, resting on my lap. It personally signified the idea of comfort and care. I also began to think about care in different aspects. With my subject matter choice, I thought of care as the relationships we create with one another, not just the actions we perform.
Kim mentioned that art is a blessing. I would like to focus some lesson plans on spreading art around. Art is not just something that looks pretty; it makes us feel and react. I want my students to understand this and use it as a tool to their benefit when creating their works. I also want them to be aware of how they present their artwork. Finding a work of art in a library book can be more rewarding than in a gallery.
